Baker Publishing Group has announced the launch of Haven, an imprint focused on what the Christian publisher describes as "clean and wholesome fiction"—that is, novels without sex, profanity, or graphic violence and also omit religious content. The inaugural Haven list will debut in spring 2026.
“We are fully committed to serving Christian readers as we always have, but we have recognized a significant opportunity to reach readers who are searching for uplifting, wholesome fiction without faith content,” Baker president and CEO Jesse Myers told PW. “Haven will fill this growing market need while maintaining the high-quality storytelling and positive values that have characterized our fiction for decades.”
Jessica Sharpe, senior acquisitions editor for BPG said Haven will “meet the growing general market demand for no-spice romance without sacrificing any of the passion or emotional depth that readers appreciate.” Sharpe added, “There is a growing community of authors writing in the clean and wholesome space who are looking for a dedicated publishing home, and Haven gives us the opportunity to champion these stories and help them find their readership."
Haven will publish six titles in 2026 and six in 2027, with a focus on contemporary and historical romance. First out will be Even After This (Feb. 2026) by Deborah Clack, which kicks off her Shelter & Sky series. The second Haven title, A Deal with a Debutante (Apr. 2026), is the first installment in Chelsea Bobulski's London’s Most Eligible series. Other titles include Jennie Goutet’s historical romance A Love Once Lost (Jun. 2026) and contemporary romances The Roman Holiday Rule (Aug. 2026) by Andra Loy and Love and Other Two-Player Games (Dec. 2026) by Roxanne LoMarc.
Associate marketing manager Rachael Betz said Baker plans to maintain and strengthen its presence in Christian retail channels while also introducing Haven to retailers that already stock general market fiction including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, libraries, independent bookstores, ebook platforms Kindle, Nook, and iBooks, and audiobook platforms such as Audible, Spotify and Libro.fm. “Our goal is to make it easier for both retailers and consumers to identify and locate books that meet their content preferences,” Betz said.
